Farewell to Michel Haddad

Farewell to Michel HaddadA farewell gathering was held on Thursday 10 September 2015 at 9.50 AM to thank Mr. Michel Haddad who retired after forty-five years of work as chef in the JLSS kitchen.
The director of the school thanked Michel for his long years of dedicated service. The director especially noted his wonderful quiet character, patience, hard-work, and friendliness without ever complaining or hurting anyone.
He was very often called from his flat on campus to provide a meal to unexpected or late guests or to receive late deliveries to the kitchen. During snowstorms when others could not reach the kitchen, Michel was the one to provide the necessary meals to all students and staff who were stuck at school.
He started work in 1970, and stayed in JLSS ever since. So much happened during that very long period. Michel and his family endured  enormous difficulties and even disasters, and he always remained the cheerful and friendly Michel everyone liked.
He also had good times and was the longest serving member of staff in Schneller School.
His wife, Therese, also helped by running the school shop for many years. She patiently dealt with all sorts of students and did her work faithfully and silently.
It was really a sad moment when Michel and Therese Haddad left JLSS. Everyone will miss them very much.
The director presented Michel with a small thank-you-gift from the school. Michel then was invited to cut the cake which was prepared by our kitchen staff for the occasion.
We wish him a very happy retirement, and we thank him for his long years of dedicated service.
